An ambulance driver, Mohammed Awad Allah Mohammed Musa, was tragically killed by Israeli settlers as he attempted to transport injured Palestinians in the West Bank, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health and an aid organization. The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported that settlers opened fire on Musa’s ambulance, resulting in his death.
In a separate incident, the Israel Defense Forces detained an ambulance crew at the entrance of the Thabet Thabet hospital in Tulkarm, West Bank, while they were trying to carry out humanitarian work. The crew was interrogated and detained by IDF soldiers, as shown in pictures shared by the PRCS.
Violence against Palestinians by extremist settlers has been a longstanding issue in the West Bank, but has escalated following recent attacks and military operations in Gaza. The international community has condemned the actions of the settlers and their supporters, leading to increased sanctions by the United States and European Union.
The IDF is currently conducting a large-scale operation in the West Bank, targeting alleged “terrorists” in the Nur al-Shams refugee camp. The military has reported killing 10 individuals during the raid, while sustaining injuries to several soldiers. However, Palestinian news agency Wafa has disputed these claims, stating that at least one of those killed was a child and that the operation has resulted in mass arrests and infrastructure destruction.
The situation in the West Bank remains tense as violence continues to escalate between settlers, Palestinians, and the IDF. The death of Mohammed Musa serves as a tragic reminder of the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis in the region.
