The iconic LIFE magazine is set to make a comeback, thanks to model and entrepreneur Karlie Kloss and her holding company, Bedford Media. After acquiring the publishing rights from Dotdash Meredith, Kloss and her team are gearing up to relaunch the magazine with a modern twist.
With plans for a print magazine alongside a strong digital and video presence, Kloss envisions LIFE as a unifying voice in today’s chaotic media landscape. The magazine, known for its iconic photography-based news coverage, will continue to showcase diverse narratives of humanity.
Under the deal, Bedford Media will take over full operations of the magazine, while Dotdash Meredith will retain ownership of the photo library and content archives dating back to the 1930s. Additionally, special interest magazines under the LIFE brand will still be published by Dotdash Meredith.
Kloss and her husband, Joshua Kushner, are no strangers to the media industry, having acquired i-D Magazine from Vice Media last year. With a focus on artisanal storytelling and shared cultural resonance, Bedford Media aims to blend iconic brands with innovative approaches to reaching audiences.
As Kushner steps into the role of publisher for LIFE magazine, the couple’s vision for the publication is clear – to revive its legacy of blending culture, current events, and everyday life. With their track record of success in the media world, Kloss and Kushner are poised to breathe new life into this beloved publication.
