Mike Roberts and John L. “Judge” LaMancuso emerged victorious at the 53rd Italian-American Charity Golf Tournament held at Holiday Valley Resort in Ellicottville. The duo clinched the title by just one shot, posting a final-round net best-ball 64 and a total of 196 over 54 holes.
Roberts, visibly emotional, expressed his gratitude for the win, highlighting the tough competition they faced with 88 teams and skilled players. He emphasized the importance of the relationships built through the tournament, especially the bond he shares with LaMancuso, spanning nearly three decades.
LaMancuso, reflecting on their victory 25 years ago, acknowledged the shift in perspective over time, recognizing the increasing challenges they face due to age and handicaps. Despite doubts and a missed putt on the final hole, Roberts’ resilience and solid play secured their victory.
The duo, both seasoned players, navigated the challenging course and adverse weather conditions to claim the championship trophy. Their enduring friendship and shared passion for the game shone through as they celebrated their hard-earned win.
As they basked in the glory of their triumph, Roberts and LaMancuso credited their teamwork, determination, and the support of their fellow competitors for their success. The victory not only marked a significant milestone in their golfing journey but also served as a testament to the enduring spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship in the golfing community.
