A deadly shooting at CityPlace Doral in Miami-Dade has left two people dead, including the gunman, and seven others injured. The incident occurred early Saturday morning at the Martini Bar in the shopping center’s patio area.
According to police reports, a dispute between patrons escalated, leading a security guard to intervene. The situation took a tragic turn when one of the patrons pulled out a gun, shooting and killing the security officer. In response, the rest of the security detail engaged in gunfire with the suspect, resulting in the suspect’s death.
During the exchange, six other individuals were injured, including two women, four men, and a Doral Police officer who was shot in the leg. Two of the victims are in critical condition and were transported to trauma centers, while the others are reported to be in stable condition.
Doral Police Chief Edwin Lopez mentioned that his officers had undergone mass casualty incident training at the location a year ago, which proved beneficial during the recent shooting. Doral Mayor Christi Fraga expressed her condolences to the victims and their families, praising the swift response of the police officers.
The owners of the Martini Bar released a statement expressing their shock and sadness over the incident, emphasizing their commitment to supporting those affected. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is conducting an investigation into the shooting.
